Bangkok 3 Days 2 Nights Itinerary for First Time Visitors

Why 3 Days and 2 Nights Works

For a first visit to Bangkok, 3 days and 2 nights is just enough to see the city, do some shopping and fit in one day trip outside the city, without feeling rushed. It suits families, couples, groups of friends and solo travelers.

Know This Before You Plan

Our joint tours run only on set days of the week. So check which day you arrive and plan your middle day (Day 2) around a tour day. The tours currently listed on our website are below (prices are as listed now and may change).

  • Monday: Nakhon Nayok and Khao Yai (1,600 THB)
  • Tuesday: Pattaya Nong Nooch (1,600 THB)
  • Wednesday: Ayutthaya (1,700 THB)
  • Thursday: Khao Yai (1,600 THB)
  • Friday: Hua Hin (1,700 THB)
  • Saturday: Koh Larn (1,500 THB)
  • Sunday: Kanchanaburi (1,700 THB)

For departure times, pick-up points and what's included in each price, see our Joint Tour page.

Day 1: Arrive and Explore the City

Daytime: Check in to your hotel and rest. On the day you travel, it's best to start lightly rather than packing the schedule.

Evening: Stroll the riverside, night markets and shopping malls. For ideas on where to go after dark, read our article on what to do in Bangkok at night. If you'd like dinner on the river, take a look at our cruise service.

Day 2: Joint Tour Day Trip

Use your middle day for a day trip outside the city. Here's how you might choose:

  • For history and temples: Ayutthaya (Wednesday) or Kanchanaburi (Sunday)
  • For beach and sea: Koh Larn (Saturday) or Hua Hin (Friday)
  • For nature and fresh air: Khao Yai (Monday or Thursday)
  • For gardens and family fun: Pattaya Nong Nooch (Tuesday)

If the tour days don't match your dates, or you prefer a theme park, check the Dream World ticket (1,100 THB).

Day 3: Temples, Shopping and Departure

Morning: Visit one of Bangkok's well-known temples or palaces. Cover your shoulders and knees. Opening hours and entrance fees can change, so check before you go.

Midday: Use the remaining time to shop for gifts and clothes for family back home.

Departure: Bangkok traffic can be heavy, so leave plenty of time to reach the airport.

Where to Stay

Our website lists hotel prices. For example, First Pride Hotel Bangkok (Room Only) is listed at 1,600 THB. Please confirm what the price includes and the number of nights when booking. Choosing a hotel close to your tour pick-up point can save you time.

Practical Tips

  • The weather can be hot, so wear light, quick-drying clothes
  • Bring sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and a water bottle
  • Choose comfortable walking shoes
  • Shoes that are easy to take off are handy on temple days
  • If you need a private car, see our car rental service
  • Keep your money and documents secure
